Description Planted in 1916, this vineyard is located on the opposite side of the winery to the family homestead and is logically referred to as on 'the other side'. Vines are reported to to have been planted in 2016. Grapes were basket pressed and transferred to a mixture of new and used French and old American oak barriques to complete fermentation. An old school Shiraz, which James Halliday calls "Attractive" gi=ving iit 95pts. Find aromas and flavours of mushroom, truffle, beef, game, vine wood, clove, anise, dark chocolate, sun-baked earth, graphite and dried plum. A further layer of sweeter fruit characters along the lines of fruit cake, date and liquorice. This exceptional 2012 Shiraz is part of d'Arenberg's premium Amazing Sites range, wines made for cellaring. Over a decade has passed since this single vineyard wine was crafted, and it is finally entering its optimum drinking window.
