Description The Grenache, Shiraz Mataro (aka Mourvèdre) blend is the classic Rhône blend of Southern France, but South Australia’s McLaren Vale is also gaining a name for itself with this lovely blend. Small parcels of top quality fruit were selected from vineyards of McLaren Vale growers like Mike Rogers. Mike’s vines grow on iron-rich soils near the Onkaparinga River, which has given the wine its name. This is closer to a traditional Rhône blend than a powerful McLaren Vale red, but it’s still deep in flavour, texture and sheer drinkability! It’s the perfect partner to grilled steak with a herby, garlic butter ... don’t forget the pommes frites!
