Description Fans of Rioja’s wines will appreciate the moreish, silky fruit and toasty spice of this classic Crianza. It’s from a family estate, Casa Primicia, the vineyards of which were established in 1973 by Julián Madrid and the cellar by his three sons, Roberto, Rodolfo and Juan Ramón, in 1985. Today the third generation have joined the team and the cellar continues to win many awards. This 2016 is made from strawberry scented Tempranillo, aged for a year in a combination of new and used American oak barrels. This allows it to pick up hints of vanilla and toasty spice, while letting plenty of exuberant, ripe fruit shine through. Further ageing in bottle makes it mellow, mature and ready to drink. Spot on with lamb chops or a selection of tapas.
