Description Carlo Vittori was a wine consultant across Italy for many decades. Yet it was only in the 1980s that he decided to buy a plot of land for himself. This was in the Brunello di Montalcino appellation, to the south, near the famous Abbey of Sant’Antimo and the village of Castelnuovo dell’Abate. Few people at the time were growing grapes there. That has all changed now, of course, and the price of grapes is astronomical. Today Carlo’s daughter Valeria Vittori is winemaker, having graduated from university in Florence. Using grapes from the estate’s 40 hectares of vines, this red is vinified with the gentlest touch and sings with intense creamy cherry and plum fruit with a lingering spice finish. This Tuscan red is a remarkably good buy.
