Description In 1988 Kym, Ang and Bec Tolley joined forces to buy a block of land in Coonawarra and Penley Estate was underway, the amalgamation of 5th generation wine families Penfold and Tolley. Newly rated 5 Red Stars, the estate is impressing with wines like this dazzling star: “70% cabernet sauvignon, 20% cabernet franc, 10% merlot. 40% new French oak. It’s not the deepest wine in the range but chains of tannin pulls this wine long. Tobacco, mint, tar and blackcurrant flavours, in that order of priority, create a wine of both substance and warmth... 94pts” (Halliday).
