Description Robert Parker calls Puglia the home of “sensational bargains of real soul”. Given the intensity of the sunshine and the ripeness of the grapes, it’s hardly surprising that superb flavours are the order of the day. And this Matervitae is packed with flavour courtesy of the marvellous marriage of citrus charged Fiano and peachy, aromatic Falanghina. While other white grapes can struggle to produce super crisp wines under warmer conditions, these two heat loving natives thrive in Puglia’s sun drenched vineyards. They were blended together by Leonardo Palumbo, winemaker at the historic Torre Vento winery, based in a 15th century Benedictine monastery. A flavoursome aperitif, it also excels with seared tuna steaks or mango and onion salad.
