Description Yakka is named after the hardy Xanthorrhoea flowering plant which is ubiquitous in Australia and found around Longview’s perimeter. The 2017 Yakka Shiraz has a dark violet hue, with lifted aromas of raspberries and plum, anise and baking spices. The palate is plush, and tannins are silky smooth with well-integrated oak characters. Excellent to drink now and will benefit with 10+ years cellaring. "From four estate blocks, matured for 15 months in new and used French hogsheads. A most attractive wine that has taken full advantage of the '17 vintage, with its finesse, length and elegance. The red and black cherry/berry fruits intermingle with notes of spice and oak. The balance and length of this medium-bodied wine can't be faulted...95pts" (Halliday).
