Description
The two varieties were handpicked and placed into the crusher simultaneously. Fermentation in open 1 tonne fermenter at relatively cool temperatures to ensure the freshness of the fruit character was preserved, with intention that the wine be luscious and textural, yet be as far from the blockbuster concept as possible. Look forward to luscious and rich strawberries & cream tones, with soft tannins and moreish drinkability. The 60 acre vineyard has plantings back to 1915 and a terroir that has been in demand by many of the Barossa’s elite winemakers.
"An estate-grown 78/22% blend, the grenache planted 1969, the carignan in 1915, hand-picked and crushed together. A wolf in sheep's clothing, it is at once savoury and fruity, the mouthfeel that of the grapes ex very old vines, an intangible thing... 95pts" (Halliday).
