Description Italy has a wealth of grapes to discover and Nerello Mascalese is definitely a rising star. Here it's grown with much love and care by Donna Ninetta, who was brought up on the slopes of Mount Etna, eastern Sicily. There she'd help her parents and grandparents in the family vineyard, but due to her father's work, the family moved to the west side of the island when she was 15. Sadly, Ninetta left her mountain behind, but took a cutting of Nerello Mascalese with her, which she planted in her new home. 12 years ago, she planted a whole vineyard of it and this pretty, appealing red is the result. With only a whisper of oak, it's a silky, pretty style, with herbal berry fruit and spice. A dead cert with roast chicken, pilaf or veggie kebabs.
