Description Merlot is the great grape of Bordeaux, where it produces some of the world’s most sought after (and expensive) wines. But there's great value to be found by looking further afield. Winemaker Hervé Sabardeil knows this better than most. He's a master of using southern French grapes to produce wines that sing with character. This generous red is from the Languedoc Roussillon region, “the most exciting region in France” (Sunday Times), which also provides much of France’s best value wine. Brimful of deep plum and cherry fruit with a note of peppery, herby spice, it’s an easy going red that has enough bite to keep you reaching for more. Delicious on its own and very versatile, it's great with sausage and mash, pasta and more.
