Description Known as the King of Beaujolais, Moulin à Vent takes its name from the ancient mill that sits prominently on one of its hills. The most voluptuous of the crus and the most ageworthy, its wines can have a gorgeous Burgundy like richness. Yet its price is much fairer, making it all the more delicious. This prized commune is one of the most easterly of the cru villages and boasts crumbly pink granite soils, with seams of manganese. These make for luscious, silky rich reds with the tannins that allow for cellaring. This mature red is made at the award winning Cave du Château de Chénas. Whole grapes fermented for maximum fruit and aged in barrel, this red is drinking at its best now, with its weave of mellow fruit and savoury complexity.
